Dry is Good

Keeping your home dry is the big deal - at the least pay attention to your roof and your basement.

Window and Storm Window Weep Holes

House painters often think they are doing a good thing when they seal off the weep holes built into a window or a storm window.  Keep these weep holes open. If do not keep them open it will hurt you in the long run - water gets in, and cannot drain out.  As the water pools it will eventually find a crack in the paint and get into the wood: the start of decay. We replace rotted window sills every year, and we see this condition all of the time.
