Consumer Survey Information

Take a look at this recent survey and what it is telling us about homeowners and their relationship with contractors:

How They Found Their Contractor:

70% of total clients made their selection of a contractor based on a recommendation from someone they trusted. The next most frequent approach was to base their decision on a feeling of trust (16%).

This is exactly how Bruen Custom Building, LLC works with our clients. They come to us based on a referral, and decide to work with us based on the trust that they develop with us.

Key Findings from the Survey:

The Good News (encouraging news considering all of the "war stories"):

64% of polled clients agreed their home improvement contractors are usually professional and get the job done properly and on time. Only 20% described their contractors as "unreliable, often late, and rarely able to finish the job on schedule".

35% said that their contractors had done a good job of protecting their homes.

At Bruen Custom Building LLC, we maintain an air of professionalism and security. In addition, we seek out customer feedback after our projects are completed in order to continuously improve our processes and foster customer satisfaction.

The Bad News (why you should be careful with who you choose):

Dissatisfaction with contractors results from:

• Time delays on projects
• Contractors who break something while fixing another thing
• Contractors who leave with payments in hand and who do not finish the work
• Employees who abused the privilege of being in a home, such as taking a nap on the couch!

We think the above descriptions say it all. Our standards for professionalism are extremely high for our employees and our processes.

Homeowners' Wish List:

Often it's a tiny detail or two that you've had in mind from the beginning of your project - and it is important to make sure that those details turn out right. So often there is a lot of communication back and forth between us as the remodeler and you as the owner.

Given their concerns about the dust and the mess of remodeling, homeowners wished contractors would do some simple things to protect their homes:

• Wear shoe mitts
• Put down drop cloths
• Contain the work area with plastic.
